13 Jun 2023 — Évora Municipal Council and ONYX Solar met to define final details of BIPV solutions.

In May a highly important meeting took place between the Évora Municipal Council (CMÉ) and ONYX Solar at the company’s factory in Ávila. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the final details of the Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) solutions before starting the production.

The ONYX solutions will be installed in playground roofs of schools, windows, and skylights integrated into buildings. These solutions consist of photovoltaic glass with either amorphous silicon or crystalline silicon technology, depending on the most suitable application.

ONYX Solar is an internationally recognized company and a leader in the development and production of photovoltaic solutions that harmoniously integrate into the architecture of buildings. This characteristic is crucial for the buildings in Évora’s historical center, where the BIPV solutions will be installed as part of the POCITYF project, ensuring the preservation of heritage.

During the meeting, representatives from CMÉ and ONYX Solar extensively discussed the technical requirements, specifications of the photovoltaic glass, and the integration of these solutions into the buildings. It was a valuable opportunity to align expectations, ensure the quality and efficiency of the products, and establish a solid partnership to achieve the project’s objectives.

In addition to the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to visit ONYX Solar’s factory and learn about the advanced production methods used to manufacture photovoltaic glass.

This significant step brings us closer to the goal of making Évora’s municipal buildings producers of sustainable energy, contributing to the transition towards a greener and more energy-efficient future.
