Dear readers,

Welcome to the first Newsletter of POCITYF, one of the youngest EU-funded smart cities project.
POCITYF’s adventure started 7 months ago when 46 partners from 13 countries gathered in Évora, also known as the “museum city”, to kick-off this project that will be our travel companion for the next five years.
These first months served us to lay the foundation for the work that will lead to the deployment of Positive Energy Distrcits (PEDs) in two Lighthouse cities (Alkmaar and Evora) and in six Fellow cities (Bari, Celje, Granada, Hvidovre, Ioannina and Ujpest).

In this newsletter we will invite you to take part in this adventure, by giving you an overview of the project’s objectives and introducing to you our cities.

I also take the opportunity to invite you to take part to the workshop on P2P energy platforms that POCITYF is organising together with its sister project SPARCS. The workshop will take place in Brno on the 3rd of September during the URBIS Smart City Fair. If you are interested in participating, you can apply to the open call for speaker at this link by the 20th of May.

These months have also been marked by the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic. Together with the cluster of EU smart cities project we have launched the #CityFromMyWindow social media campaign, a way to be together while staying apart, a way to show our cities from an unusual yet beautiful perspective. This unexpected situation has shown the strength and the resilience of our cities which have demonstrated to have countless resources and ideas to support citizens, especially the most vulnerable, in their daily lives. Have a look at some of their best practices.

The Newsletter will be issued every 6 months and will contain news on the project, on its cities and on the EU smart cities world as well as a list of relevant events.

I hope you will enjoy the reading and follow us in this thrilling adventure!
