InVesta Foundation joins POCITYF

02 Dec 2021 — Investa's building will be one of the most sustainable in Alkmaar

InVesta has become a partner of the POCITYF consortium. The InVesta Foundation has received approval from the EU to join POCITYF as a partner, a smart city project that aims to make historic cities greener, smarter and more liveable. POCITYF enables InVesta to equip the new building with the latest innovative technologies. The new construction of the InVesta expertise centre on the Boekelermeer business park started in November and will be completed shortly after the summer.

InVesta in POCITYF

The participation in POCITYF offers InVesta the opportunity to give the planned expertise centre an innovative and sustainable character that fits in with the business operations. Before participating in the POCITYF project, there were already plans to realize the expertise centre. In doing so, the building would meet the NZEB requirements applicable since 1 January 2021, which means that the building must be (almost) energy neutral. With the entry into the POCITYF consortium, paving the way for InVesta to deploy the most modern, innovative and sustainable technologies, these requirements are completely exceeded. Instead of an (almost) energy-neutral building, the InVesta expertise centre will  be energy positive, making it one of the eye catchers of the POCITYF project.

Innovative solar panels will be installed on the roof and in the façade where the surplus of electricity produced can be stored in a battery. The heat system of the building will be fully sustainable with PVT panels, which in addition to electricity also generate heat, solar panels for both electricity and heat generation and innovative heat pumps such as a thermo-acoustic heat pump. This means that the overview is far from complete. Furthermore, triple glazing, circular (insulation) material and, phase transition materials (a kind of thermal battery), a hydrogen fuel cell, a direct current grid and smart charging points are placed and the energy flows are optimally coordinated with a smart energy management system. This makes the InVesta building one of the most sustainable buildings in Alkmaar.

The inclusion of InVesta considerably increments the added-value of POCITYF as a whole. InVesta will not only broaden the multidisciplinary nature of the project, bringing more competences on the field of green gases, but will also take the demonstration activities to the next level, linking POCITYF to its future building, which will rank among the most sustainable ones of Alkmaar. The consortium, is, obviously, more than happy in welcoming InVesta as a partner.
