Third Smart Heritage Cities Working group meeting

30 Jun 2021 — On the 28th of June, the 3rd meeting of the Smart Heritage Cities Working Group took place.

The topic of the meeting was private-public partnerships as funding opportunity for smart heritage cities.

Lada Strelnikova, responsible for managing the investment management mandate for the European Energy Efficiency Fund (EEEF) within DWS. Strelnikova discussed the aspect of technical assistance of the EEEF as a traditional subsidy option for public authorities to move projects forward and prepare an investment program. She presented the examples of the Alentejo region and the city of Évora who in the past received technical assistance in their investment program and feasibility study for certain projects. She highlighted the importance of properly framing the project to get the political support needed to drive the progress of a project faster.

After the presentation, the participants discussed about the replicability of the aforementioned project through the EEEF fund and the different private-public funding opportunities available in EU countries.
