Alkmaar hosts the first POCITYF final event in collaboration with REFORMERS

On 15 September, two EU-funded projects will come together for a unique joint event in Alkmaar. Swhocasing relevant achievements in urban energy transition, the Dutch city represents both a Lighthouse City in the POCITYF project and the Flagship Valley for REFORMERS. This project milestone marks the first Final Event of POCITYF, with a second one scheduled in Évora, Portugal, the project’s other lighthouse city, in early 2026.

The event will be hosted at the City Hall of Alkmaar, providing an opportunity to experience firsthand the city’s integrated approaches to renewable energy deployment, digitalisation, and citizen-centric governance. The one-day programme will open with keynote remarks from the Municipality of Alkmaar and project coordinators, with special participation from Mayor Anja Schouten and Alderman Christian Schoute. Following an overview of both projects, participants will engage in the Bold City Vision workshop, where they will explore future scenarios for innovation in urban development.

In the afternoon, two thematic energy transition tours will guide participants through several key demonstration sites, including the De Meent sports complex, where large-scale renewable energy systems have been deployed and a Digital Twin oriented city tour showcasing how digital tools are being used to engage citizens and optimise urban energy management. Informal networking drinks and a closing dinner will offer participants the chance to exchange ideas and build new connections across the EU innovation ecosystem.

The full agenda of the event is available here.

Participation is free of charge, but places are limited: please register here in advance, confirmation will be based on availability. Join us in Alkmaar for this inspiring day of innovation and collaboration!
