Dear readers,
We are pleased to present POCITYF’s eighth newsletter, which is filled with exciting updates!
POCITYF has been extended until September 2026.
Our Lighthouse cities, Alkmaar and Evora, are now working on collecting data and calculating the Key Performance Indicators.
Évora is also engaging the citizens to use PAYT containers, that will monitor the waste disposal and incentivize users to decrease their waste generation. Furthermore, the activities for the installation of the BIPV solutions are undergoing in all the municipal buildings under responsibility of Évora municipality. Lastly, two renewable energy communities are being developed: one formed by 3 stores at SONAE’s building (1 prosumer and other 2 consumers), in PEB3, and the other formed by 5 residents of Valverde village (with 5 prosumers as members), in PEB2. Both formation processes are in their final stages.
POCITYF has been featured in top European publications, including the European Commission’s report “The State of European Smart Cities” and the BRIDGE initiative brochure. BRIDGE is not the only networkvthat POCITYF joins. Scalable Cities collaboration has been very fruitful with webinars and other synergies – especially with new projects! Additionally, POCITYF is making headlines in Portuguese media, with its activities even being highlighted on television.
The best part? Our flagship cities make it all look easy! Our latest article, “When engaging citizens is a child’s game: The Alkmaar experiment”, highlights how this Dutch city is pioneering urban renewal by actively involving its citizens.
If you missed the last general assembly, the next one will be in Bari on March 12th. POCITYF partners will have the chance to come together again and discuss the next exciting steps.
